CTLab is a full-cycle program where creative teams address cultural challenges defined together with the Lab’s partners, transforming them into artistic works and tech-enabled products.
Inspired by whale echolocation and marine field recordings, m o b : e is an interactive AI installation that transforms audience members into co-creators of an immersive audiovisual environment. Through an intuitive touch interface and cross-modal technology, it empowers users to playfully engage with contemporary classical music and real-time visuals without requiring any prior musical training.
Alea
An interactive installation exploring aleatoric music in realtime. This hands-on project will explore how to break down accessibilty and boundaries in learning about contemporary classical music and non traditional composition such as aleatoric music. Participants can play an interface which triggers instruments and phrases however they like, triggering music and video. Participants create new compositions in real time with no previous music background, connecting them to the world of contemporary classical and avante garde methods.
We develop an interactive composition called King of the Hill. Three musicians. One King. One Challenger. One Referee. Music as a live system of competition.
Transfigured Night
Transfigured Night is a participatory audiovisual journey based on Richard Dehmel’s poem. The audience enters a shared musical landscape, where collective gestures shape the work’s atmosphere, tension, and emotional progression in real time.
GEST XR
Gest-XR is an expanded performative and instrumental environment for contemporary music. This immersive XR/VR platform redefines musical creation by transforming the musical experience into a physical, spatial, and performative interaction through user gesture recognition, enabling users to play a variety of virtual instruments—such as synthesizers, percussion, and Baschet instruments—create looped recordings, and interact with other musicians and AI.
Whare
Whare (Welsh: to play music / to play a game) is a new live work in which two composers build distinct compositional systems performed simultaneously by a live ensemble. The audience splits into two groups on arrival, each quietly shaping one of the two systems while hearing only the combined result of both. Individual choices produce a shared outcome, and the piece sounds different every time.
Private Language Machine
Private Language Machine is an experimental audiovisual performance that merges music with game mechanics, treating musical performance as a system of rules, decisions, and social interaction rather than a fixed score. Performers navigate interactive structures like card games, graphic notation, and chess to collaboratively shape sound and meaning in real time. The work explores how gameplay can redefine authorship, communication, and participation in musical performance.
WALL
Interactive choreography about people’s walls with decoration made of sound. Study on walls — from ancient to under construction, outer and inner, material and virtual. The show involves directed sound, contemporary dance and game-interaction. Aesthetic and playful experience that can become life-changing. In the end performers lead the audience through the wall — reminding that walls are built in minds.
Track 2 Memory and Identity. Reconnection Through AI
Focus
Artistic research on reconnecting memory and cultural identity through AI
Migration and cultural displacement reshape how memory and identity travel across languages, borders, and digital environments.
This track invites participants to use AI as a tool for artistic research, developing performative, spatial, and digital works that reactivate memory as a living, evolving process.
School Program
Memory & narratives — working with personal, collective, and cultural memory
AI as a medium — generating, reconstructing, and reshaping memory through AI systems
Tools & practices — engaging with archives, datasets, and interactive formats
Ethics & authorship — reflecting on bias, ownership, and the politics of memory
Feedback & iteration — developing projects through mentoring and peer exchange
Confronting the most visible symptom of the climate crisis, Ice Wide Shut shatters linear time in a theatrical installation that uses language models to stage impossible encounters between figures from different epochs, forcing an urgent dialogue about what humanity has witnessed — and what it stands to lose.
The Department of Cultural Declaration is an interactive installation that satirizes the cold, institutional mechanics of migration and the bureaucratic engineering of collective memory. Operating as a immigration interface for a fictional digi-state, the project invites visitors to declare an intimate cultural ritual in exchange for citizenship, only to watch the machine algorithmically mutate, assimilate and amalgamate their personal heritage to forge a centralized national identity.
dance AI_dentity explores AI’s ability to reenact the dance quality, style, and articulation of a particular dancer. A custom AI trained on a dancer’s personal video archive reproduces what it has captured as the dancer’s signature movement. The audience can observe what is present and what is missed during this reenactment, watching the same dancer move live alongside the AI-generated video based on her archive.
What if the Middle Ages never ended - feudalism just moved online? Who owns the platforms we scroll on? Who profits from the content we create and share for free? Plug and Play Feudalism is an interactive experience connecting Varoufakis' technofeudalism to one of its invisible products: the meme.
Mnemochora is a socio-semantic exchange platform and immersive installation that uses topological AI to map individual and collective memories as a dynamic "archipelago".
Computational Memory, Displacement, and the Infrastructures of Sensing
Post-Humanitarian Infrastructure. Our project provides a decentralized, visual intelligent tool that maps how citizens, organizations, and transnational businesses interact with complex geopolitical and data systems while forming post-humanitarian infrastructure. By detecting and transforming abstract systemic engagements into an active, transparent digital archive, we enable partners to visually track present situations and predict future structural changes. Memory is the space between actions.
A small immersive booth. The visitor writes a question, waits in the dark, and lifts a ringing telephone to hear the voices of my Brahui-Baluch family in their own languages — composed by an AI that does not understand what they are saying.
Ancestors in the Noise explores whether the experiences of our ancestors — their migrations, losses, and survival — still live somewhere in our bodies today. Artist Elena Kovylina investigates her own family history through DNA data and live brainwave readings, making hidden ancestral memory visible through sound and image.
DiZen Orphaned Session is an AI-driven media art project that explores how digital memory shapes, fractures, and reconstructs identity in the context of cultural displacement. The project is built around DiZen (Digital Citizen) — an artist-developed character without gender, age, or fixed nationality, whose identity is determined entirely by the digital traces left in online spaces: comments, reactions, linguistic cultural patterns, emotional registers. DiZen does not belong to themselves. Their identity is written by the algorithm.
